Imperial Valley, California
LiPower - Low Cost Geothermal Energy and Lithium Developer
LiPower is a wholly owned subsidary of Pollination, an Australian-based, global development, investment and advisory firm, and is developing a project in Imperial Valley, California that involves the production of lithium from geothermal brines via Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE).
Owned by private and public investors including Mizuho and ANZ Bank, the Pollination team is collectively applying more than 100 years of experience in energy, infrastructure and resource development to LiPower’s development of the Imperial Valley opportunity.
LiPower’s objective is to be a low cost, reliable producer of baseload geothermal power and lithium battery pre-cursor metals.
WHAT WE DO
LiPower is developing a powerful geothermal and lithium extraction platform that is clean, efficient, and designed to support American energy security.
Geothermal Power
A 49MW conventional geothermal flash power plant generates reliable, 24/7 baseload electricity from the high-temperature hypersaline brines of Imperial Valley’s Salton Sea geothermal field — one of the most prolific geothermal systems in North America.
Direct Lithium Extraction
The same brine that powers the plant is processed through selective DLE media targeting 40,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). The cooled brine is fully reinjected, leaving no tailings, waste rock or evaporation ponds.
US Critical Minerals
LiPower’s lithium output directly feeds US domestic battery supply chains, reducing dependence on foreign sources and supporting both California’s clean energy mandate and the federal critical minerals strategy.
Strong Financial Profile
Dual revenue streams from power and lithium production, a sub-49MW plant qualifying for streamlined CEQA permitting, and a pathway to long-term Power Purchase Agreements and lithium offtake agreements underpin LiPower’s financial viability.
